In This World, It’s Only Us is a photographic series that explores a world that is established by the free spirit and independence of its inhabitants. Here, no outside forces are able to penetrate their own personal paradise. These figures exist within a wild space free of rules and normative conventions. The activities in these spaces are based around pleasure and expression: smoking cigarettes, sleeping in cars, and jumping fences. These images work to establish an idyllic reality that is both utopian in its conception and relatable in its expression. They are able to divest themselves of everyday responsibilities and saturate a world that was made for them, by them. These are windows into a world that capture potent and lucid glimpses. They open spaces into lives that are intimate, delicate, often private, occasionally dark, and always honest. These images represent personas and the energy, tension, or effortlessness between them and the physical space their bodies hold.
